UK Radiographers top 5 places to work outside of London

London's amazing. We love it. Our UK team and headquarters are here. But sometimes it's fun to get out of the city and try something a little different. For those Radiographers among you keen to explore more of the UK, here's 5 places that you should definitely consider:

1. Manchester

Manchester is the North's alternative to London: quirky, cosmopolitan and thriving. Once blighted by economic slump and the withdrawal of manufacturing industry, like it's sister city New York, Manchester is now bursting with economic potential and its music, theatre and media scene proves just that. With an abundance of cool bars and restaurants to make any Londoner jealous, Manchester is a sure fire way to balance a busy job with plenty of opportunities to play.

2. Glasgow

Glasgow is the Georgian star of Scotland, boasting elegant architecture and a plethora of bars, museums and art galleries, not to mention excellent hospitals and job opportunities in Radiography and Mammography. With easy access to some of the UK's most beautiful sites (The Lake District, Scottish Highlands and Isle of Arran), this is a hub that will suit both the adventurous and stay-at-home types.

3. Leeds

Leeds is possibly the party capital of the UK with a reputation as the north's friendly city with a rich culture and history. From the main strip of shops, clubs and bars to the quieter peaks of the Yorkshire Dales, this part of the world is a favourite of Globe for its people, its laid-back charm and its job opportunities.

4. Plymouth

Plymouth, once a famous naval port has become something of a medical centre of excellence since the extension of Exeter Medical School to campuses within the city. There are many radiography jobs available, with access to some of Britain's best-loved coastline and surf. This part of the world is famously liberal, friendly and inviting, and you can be sure to relax into a more slower pace of British life than that in the big city.

5. Nottingham

Nottingham is a charming medieval city with an old, hilly central hub of shops, quirky coffee houses and arts centres. Not to mention a huge and highly-respected university that encompasses many local hospitals into its training programmes. Probably one of the most central locations in the United Kingdom, Nottingham is a good base from which to explore the weird and the wonderful of this ancient land.
